Many people experience the torment of a red and swollen eye, sometimes with yellow pus. And it can often recur if left untreated. Do you know how to handle it adequately at home?
Doctors explain that a stye, a common eye disease, attempts to attack mainly teenagers and young people. Sometimes people want to push the pus and make it flow to recover quickly. However, this wrong method can cause the pus to enter the bloodstream, causing complications such as orbital cellulitis, sepsis, or even death. However, in the beginning, when a stye develops, it is not necessary to go to see a doctor. Once the stye starts, there are some home remedies that are recommended.
1. Before the pus forms, you can use a warm compress that can accelerate the pus or even eliminate the swelling in the eye directly.
How to prepare a warm compress:
• Prepare a piece of sterilised cloth.
• Fold the cloth and soak it in hot water (not boiling water).
• Place the cloth on the stye for 1 minute, four times a day.
• The stye will form a little bit of pus but it is inappropriate to pierce it by hands or needle. Continue with the warm compress five times a day.
2. If you find that pus has been formed, you can ask a doctor to have it surgically removed to relieve the pain and speed up healing.
3. Take antibiotic eyedrops or apply an antibiotic eye ointment.
4. To avoid bacterial infection, do not rub your eyes with dirty hands.
