Four Tips for Helping You Sleep Tight

For most people, sleeping is the best part of a whole day, but people who are prone to insomnia have a different attitude. Actually, insomnia can be treated without medication. Try the following four tips before sleeping:

1. After meals, you may feel tired and want to sleep immediately, but your digestive system is still working. It is better to overcome this sleepiness: up to 20 minutes after lunch and 4 hours after dinner.

2. If it is necessary to lie down immediately after eating, try to lie on the right side, which can release the spleen-qi (the subtle substance, but significant dynamic of the spleen in traditional Chinese medicine).

If you rest for a bit longer time after eating, it is advisable to lie both on the right and on the left side.

3. Before you sleep, remember to turn off the light.

The light can confuse you and make you feel uncomfortable, which leads to insomnia.

If you make a habit of turning off the lights before going to bed, you help calm the mind and fall asleep gently.

4. The mind (what you think) is an inseparable part of good sleep. Your mind always stimulates the cranial nerve and keeps the brain awake, so it is more difficult to fall asleep when you focus the mind on how to sleep quickly.

Only if forget the disturbing mind, you can fall asleep unconsciously.
